The GAD-7 is a 7-item self-report scale designed as a screening tool for generalized anxiety disorder. It has been developed and validated for use in primary care. Although it is primarily a screening tool GAD-7 may be useful in assessing symptom severity and monitoring change across time, although its responsiveness to change remains to be tested in treatment studies.
